Japanese cuisine "UEMORI"
Seasonal Kyoto Kaiseki in the Heart of Gion.
Japanese cuisine "UEMORI" in gion, Kyoto
At Gion Uemori, we serve traditional Kyoto kaiseki crafted with the finest local ingredients.
— from simmered Kyoto vegetables to our signature yudofu and fresh yuba courses.
You can also enjoy seasonal delicacies such as hamo (pike conger) in summer and fugu in winter,
each prepared to reflect the beauty of Kyoto’s four seasons.
Our tofu is sourced from a historic artisan maker in Arashiyama,
a beloved Kyoto establishment with over 160 years of history.
Its delicate flavor and exceptional texture form the heart of many of our dishes.
When visiting Kyoto or strolling through the streets of Gion,
we invite you to stop by and experience authentic Japanese cuisine in a calm, traditional setting.
We welcome guests for sightseeing meals, business dinners, celebrations, and family gatherings.
Private tatami rooms, counter seating, and relaxed table spaces are available, and a casual lunch menu is also offered.
Yudofu
Traditional Boiled Tofu
Arashiyama’s Famed “Morika” Tofu,
Served with Delicate Dashi & House Ponzu.
Our yudofu is made using tofu from Morika,
a historic tofu artisan in Saga-Arashiyama known for over a century and a half of craftsmanship.
Its uniquely soft yet resilient texture and silky finish are gently warmed and served with our refined dashi,
and a house-made ponzu prepared with Kyoto’s renowned Chidori vinegar.
For guests seeking a deeper experience of Kyoto’s soy-based cuisine,
our recommended Yudofu & Yuba Kaiseki features not only yudofu but also fresh yuba presented as sashimi,
simmered dishes, and delicate ankake preparations.
A variety of textures and rich soybean flavors come together to delight all five senses.
If you prefer a traditional Kyoto kaiseki but would like to enjoy yudofu as well,
it can be added to any of our seasonal kaiseki courses.
Take your time and savor exceptional yudofu alongside a kaiseki meal that reflects the shifting beauty of Kyoto’s four seasons.
* Prices include tax.
* All kaiseki courses can be paired with an optional all-you-can-drink plan.
